As Arp faded from existence in 1981, its most ambitious project, the analog Chroma polysynth, was taken over by Rhodes and released under their brand the following year. With a velocity-sensitive weighted keyboard and the ability to connect to an Apple IIe computer for program and sequencer storage, it was a beast of a synth, with either 16 single-oscillator voices or 8 two-oscillator voices. Only 3000 Chromas were manufactured, and the keyboard-less Chroma Expander was even more rare.
