Yamaha DX11

Released in 1988

The DX11 shares the same voice architecture with Yamaha's TX81Z rack module - it is a 4-operator FM synthesizer that is 8-part multitimbral. Unlike previous DX synths which used only sine waves for synthesis, the DX11 offers up to eight different waveforms for operators. Users can assign different patches across various zones on the keybed, making it a multi-timbral synthesizer. The DX11 has 8-voice polyphony and a 5-octave keyboard that responds to both velocity and aftertouch.
