Arp 2500, 2600

Released in 1971

The 2600 was Arp's attempt to bring the creative flexibility of a modular synth into a compact and portable system. The semi-modular design gives the user an initial patch but any control voltage or audio signal can be routed to any other section of the synthesizer replacing the normalled connection. With 74 patch-points and 57 sliders there is a massive range of patches that can be made.

The 2500 was the predecessor to the 2600. These systems were fully modular and customizable to hold different modules. Instead of relying on patch cables the 2500 had patch matrices for routing signals.
