After a VFX-sd or SD-1 keyboard is reinitialized, the
sequencer operating system must be reloaded from disk in order for the
sequencer to be operational. These O.S. disks contain the most recent operating
system, as well as hundreds of sounds, the factory presets, and demo sequences.
The SD-1 O.S. 3.00 Disk is an older operating system which is needed
if your firmware is lower than version 4.0 (see below).
The EPROM chips will update the firmware in an SD-1 to the latest version. (O.S. 4.0 and
later disks will incompatible if the internal firmware is lower than version 4.0. To determine
the version in your keyboard, press the Presets button, and while holding it down, press the
Master button.) The two chips are user installable, and come with complete instructions.
The pricing below requires the trade-in of your old chips; a $10.00 chip charge is added to
all EPROM orders, and this fee is refunded upon return of the old chips.
